Peter Levi

Director of Engagement & Partnerships

ADL Western Division

“Peter may be one of the biggest brains out there in the effort to stop hate in this world- his life’s work reminds us that even the most gifted people are extremely challenged to eliminate it”

Jeanne and Peter Levi in studio on January 23rd, 2025.

Peter Levi is a distinguished leader in the civil rights and human relations field, currently serving as the Director of Engagement & Partnerships for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Western Division. In this strategic role, he is responsible for overseeing the divisional engagement strategy, which involves fostering positive relationships, advancing educational programs, and nurturing key partnerships across the Western United States. His work is instrumental in ensuring ADL's comprehensive approach to combating antisemitism and all forms of bigotry.

Prior to his divisional role, Peter served for many years as the Regional Director of the ADL's Orange County/Long Beach Regional Office. During his tenure, he became a "go-to" partner for local law enforcement, public officials, and Jewish communal leaders, notably establishing the office as a first responder to antisemitic incidents and hate crimes in a region known for its rich cultural diversity. He skillfully navigated the complexities of addressing hate rhetoric, extremism, and the persistent challenge of rising antisemitic incidents.

Drawing on extensive experience in Jewish community relations and interfaith affairs—including serving as a Rabbi for over a decade—Peter advocates forcefully for both proactive and responsive measures against hate. He is a strong proponent of educational programming, such as the No Place for Hate initiative for K-12 schools, and actively liaises with security experts and law enforcement to assess threats and enhance community security.

Peter’s podcast appearance provides vital context on the ADL's mission: to secure justice and fair treatment for all people, recognizing that America is only safe for its Jewish community when it is safe for all marginalized groups. His dedication to advocating for policy changes, educating the public on minority groups, and encouraging allies to report hate underscores his status as a key figure in the global effort to create a world without hate.
