Elizabeth Espinosa

Emmy Award winning Journalist

Health Advocate - Core Kidney

Elizabeth Espinosa is an acclaimed figure in American media and a dedicated advocate for public health and disability rights. With a career spanning over 20 years, she has earned two Emmy Awards for her journalism, covering a wide range of breaking news and hosting her own prime-time daily talk show on CNN en Español and a public affairs program for PBS. Her reporting and anchoring work across the Los Angeles market for major stations like KTLA 5, Fox 11, Univision, and Telemundo established her as a trusted and powerful voice in the diverse Southern California community.

A central motivation for Elizabeth’s advocacy stems from her personal experience growing up with a severely disabled younger brother and her family's struggle with chronic illness. This unique perspective has fueled her tireless work for the rights of the disabled, leading to numerous community service awards and her current board position with the Westside Regional Center. She embodies the resilience she champions, turning personal hardship into a platform for widespread positive change.

Elizabeth has extended her advocacy to critical health issues as a passionate Health Advocate for the CORE Kidney Foundation. This cause is deeply personal, as she actively supports her mother, who is on a kidney transplant waiting list. Through her involvement with CORE Kidney, Elizabeth uses her communication expertise to raise awareness about kidney disease, the importance of proactive screenings, and the need for comprehensive patient support, helping to provide hope and resources to individuals and families navigating the complex path to transplant and recovery.

Today, in addition to her ongoing media influence and community work, Elizabeth served on the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Executive Team as a top media advisor, showcasing her versatile expertise and commitment to civic engagement. She is a multi-lingual, multicultural entrepreneur, vlogger, and speaker who continuously inspires others to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals by using their voice for meaningful action.
