Anne Friedman, Executive Director

“passionately driving positive change for the LGBTQIA+ community through broader community engagement and inclusivity”

Gay for Good

Anne Friedman is the Executive Director of Gay for Good, a leading national non-profit organization that actively mobilizes the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) community and its allies for transformative community service. Anne's career is a testament to the power of grassroots commitment and strategic non-profit leadership, focused on proving that the LGBTQ+ community is a powerful force for good in every local community.

Her journey with Gay for Good began in 2010 as a dedicated volunteer with the Los Angeles chapter. Her passion for connecting people through service quickly saw her rise through the ranks from chapter leader to board member, board treasurer, and ultimately Board Chair. This extensive hands-on experience gave her a profound, practical understanding of the volunteer-led model that is central to Gay for Good's success. This ultimately led to her being selected as the organization's first Executive Director, marking a pivotal moment in its growth.

Under Anne’s visionary leadership, Gay for Good has experienced remarkable expansion and impact. She has been the driving force behind the organization’s growth from just ten chapters to over twenty-one chapters nationwide, significantly tripling its reach and expanding its mailing list to over 20,000 stakeholders. This expansion amplifies the organization's mission to promote diversity, foster inclusion, and strengthen ties to the broader community by increasing LGBTQ+ visibility and combating stereotypes through authentic acts of service. She is dedicated to equipping chapter leaders with the necessary training and resources to organize inclusive volunteer experiences, fostering meaningful connections while helping animals, the environment, and people in need.

Prior to her executive role at Gay for Good, Anne cultivated her non-profit expertise by working for five years at a community foundation. She holds a BA in Communication Studies from California State University Long Beach and actively serves on the Advisory Board for the Long Beach LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, further cementing her commitment to civic engagement. Anne resides in Long Beach, CA, with her wife Kelli.
